Legal
Terms of Service
These are the terms on which we sell compact discs to you. They cover ordering, pricing, delivery, returns and your statutory consumer rights. Please read them before ordering.
[Your Legal Entity Name],
[Your Registered Address] and [Company Registration Number] with
your real details. Consumer law varies by country — if you sell into the EU or UK, have a
local lawyer review the returns section against the Consumer Rights Directive.
1. Who these terms are between
These terms form an agreement between you ("you", "the customer") and [Your Legal Entity Name], trading as Vinyl Vault Compact Disc Co., registered at [Your Registered Address] under company number [Company Registration Number] ("we", "us").
By placing an order on this website you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, or that you have permission from a parent or guardian, and that you accept these terms.
2. How a contract is formed
- You place an order by completing checkout and submitting payment.
- We send you an automated order confirmation email. This is an acknowledgement, not acceptance of your order.
- Our acceptance happens when we dispatch the goods and send you a shipping confirmation with tracking. At that point a binding contract exists between us.
We may decline an order before dispatch — for example if the item sold out between your order and our picking it, if the listed price contained an obvious error, or if we suspect fraud. If we decline, we refund you in full within 3 business days.
3. Pricing and taxes
Currency
All prices are displayed in US dollars (USD) by default. Where we offer a local currency selector, the conversion is indicative and the amount charged may differ slightly due to your card issuer's exchange rate and any foreign transaction fee they apply. We do not control those charges.
Tax treatment
The tax treatment of your order depends on where you are:
| Your location | How tax is applied |
|---|---|
| European Union & United Kingdom | Prices shown include VAT at your country's rate. The VAT amount is itemised on your invoice. No additional tax is added at checkout. |
| United States | Prices shown exclude sales tax. Applicable state and local sales tax is calculated at checkout based on your delivery address and added to your total before payment. |
| Rest of world | Prices exclude any local import duties or consumption taxes. See "Import duties" below. |
Import duties and customs (non-EU destinations)
For deliveries outside the EU and UK, your parcel may be subject to import duty and local taxes levied by your country's customs authority. These charges are your responsibility and are not included in the price you pay us. We declare the full value of goods on customs paperwork as required by law and cannot mark parcels as "gifts" or under-declare value.
If a parcel is returned to us because customs charges were refused, we will refund the cost of the goods but not the original shipping charge.
Pricing errors
We try hard to price accurately, but errors happen. If we discover a pricing error on your order before dispatch, we will contact you to confirm whether you wish to proceed at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
4. Payment
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Klarna. Payment is taken at the time you place your order. All card transactions are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
For Klarna instalment payments, the instalment terms are set by Klarna and are subject to your agreement with them, including their credit assessment. We are not a party to that credit agreement.
All prices are in USD unless your order total states otherwise. If your card issuer declines the payment, the order will not proceed and we will release the reserved stock.
5. Delivery
| Destination | Service and timeframe |
|---|---|
| United States | Tracked Media Mail or equivalent. Typically 3–5 business days after dispatch. Free over $80, otherwise $4.99. |
| United Kingdom | Tracked international airmail. Typically 5–9 business days after dispatch. |
| European Union | Tracked international airmail. Typically 7–12 business days after dispatch. |
| Canada, Australia, Japan, rest of world | Tracked where available. Typically 10–21 business days after dispatch. |
Timeframes are estimates from the carrier, not guarantees. We dispatch within 1 business day of receiving your order; you will receive a tracking number by email at that point.
Risk and ownership
Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Ownership passes to you when we have received payment in full. If a parcel is lost in transit, we will replace or refund it — we do not ask you to pursue the carrier on our behalf.
6. Returns and cancellation
Right to cancel (EU and UK customers)
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a statutory right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving any reason. To exercise this right, email orders@musiccdshop.com.cn with your order number. We will process the refund within 14 days of receiving the returned goods or proof of their return.
You are responsible for the cost of return postage under the statutory cancellation right, unless the goods are faulty or not as described. Goods must be returned in a resaleable condition — the disc and packaging undamaged beyond what is necessary to inspect them.
Our extended 30-day policy
We go beyond the statutory minimum. We accept returns for any reason within 30 days of delivery, provided the disc plays and the packaging is intact.
Faulty, damaged or misdescribed goods
If a disc arrives damaged, does not play, or does not match the condition we described, you are entitled to a full refund, including return postage and the original shipping charge. Email us with a photo of the item and we will send a prepaid return label.
Under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the EU Consumer Rights Directive, goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. Nothing in these terms limits those statutory rights, which take precedence over anything stated here.
7. Grading and condition
Used discs are graded using the standard record-collecting scale. Our full definitions appear on the Grading standard section of our homepage. In summary:
| Grade | Meaning |
|---|---|
| New | Factory sealed, or opened only to verify contents. Never played. |
| Near Mint | Played a handful of times. Glossy surface, no visible marks under light. |
| Very Good+ | Light surface marks from sleeve removal. Plays cleanly with no skips. |
| Good | Visible wear and some surface noise. Fully playable, defects always noted. |
Grading is a matter of judgement, not an exact science. If you disagree with our assessment of an item you have received, tell us — we will accept the return and refund you, including postage.
8. Intellectual property
The recordings sold on this site are protected by copyright. Purchasing a CD grants you ownership of the physical disc, not of the underlying copyright in the music. You may not copy, distribute, broadcast or make the recordings available to the public.
Album titles, artist names and artwork are the property of their respective rights holders. Their appearance on this site is for the purpose of identifying and describing the goods offered for sale.
The site design, written descriptions and photography on this site are our property and may not be reproduced without permission.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.
We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control — including carrier strikes, customs delays, severe weather or postal disruption. Where such an event occurs, we will tell you promptly and, if the delay is substantial, offer you the choice of a new delivery date or a full refund.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [Your Jurisdiction], and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction.
However, if you are a consumer resident in the EU or UK, this does not deprive you of the protection afforded by the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
EU online dispute resolution
Consumers in the EU may use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform, available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Our contact email for that purpose is the address above.
